Process Media Tech Support

Bill Evans
Applications Scientist,
Process Chromatography
Bill obtained his bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry from Bucknell University. He continued his studies at M.I.T. where he earned a master’s degree in Biology. Prior to joining Tosoh Bioscience LLC in 2014, Bill had experience in analytical method development at Neose Technologies, in vitro assay development and protein purification at Locus Pharmaceuticals, and viral clearance at Charles River Laboratories. Bill joined Tosoh Bioscience LLC in March 2014 as a process technical service specialist. His research includes developing applications using the comprehensive line of process media from Tosoh. He also assists customers with a variety of process chromatography technical issues.
Jukka Kervinen, Ph.D.
Applications Scientist
Process Chromatography
Jukka performed graduate research at the Universities of Jyvaskyla and Helsinki, Finland, and received his Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Jyvaskyla. As a post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD, he studied plant and retroviral proteases using X-ray crystallography. He continued protein biochemical research on tetrapyrrole (e.g. heme, chlorophyll) biosynthesis at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, prior to moving to the pharmaceutical industry to study inflammatory, metabolic and infectious diseases. At Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biotechnology in 2012-18, his main responsibilities were to develop efficient protein purification processes for mAbs and other novel biologics that can be feasibly and cost-efficiently scaled-up to bioprocessing facility production in the cGMP environment. Jukka joined Tosoh Bioscience LLC in February 2018. His primary role will consist of developing applications for Tosoh process media, testing chromatographic methods for process optimization and assisting customers for technical questions.
J. Kevin O'Donnell, Ph.D.
Process Chromatography
Support Manager
Kevin obtained his bachelor's degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his doctorate degree from Temple University. After a post-doctoral position in the Department of Molecular Genetics at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (now GlaxoSmithKline), Kevin moved to DNX where he worked on the expression of human hemoglobins in transgenic animals. For the past eighteen years Kevin has been a member of the Technical Service Department and has assisted customers with a variety of application and production issues ranging from bench top to production scale. Currently Kevin is the Process Chromatography Support Manager for Tosoh Bioscience where he assists customers with a variety of process chromatography technical issues.
Cesar Zuin, M.Sc.
Technical Specialist,
Process Chromatography
Cesar obtained both his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and his Master’s of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry from University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil). Prior to joining Tosoh Bioscience LLC in May 2015, Cesar worked for over 16 years at companies in Brazil, Canada and the US assisting customers with protein separation applications and proteomics: from trace analysis and characterization to full production scale, providing application support for chromatography systems, columns and consumables. Cesar is proficient in large scale column packing and process scale separation science. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. His role at Tosoh will include developing applications using process scale chromatographic resins from Tosoh, and assisting end users with technical issues.
