TOYOPEARL Ether-650S is a hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) resin for biomolecule purification. The resin is composed of a base material of hydroxylated methacrylic polymer beads that have been functionalized with an Ether ligand group. TOYOPEARL Ether-650S resin has a high degree of chemical and mechanical stability, allowing cleaning-in-place (CIP) and very high flow rates. TOYOPEARL Ether-650S resin has a 100 nm pore size and a 35 µm bead size and is the least hydrophobic of all TOYOPEARL HIC resins.
TOYOPEARL Ether-650S resin can be used for high resolution intermediate purification and polishing process steps. If greater resolution is needed, the smaller particle TSKgel Ether-5PW resins may be used. If lower resolution is required, the TOYOPEARL Ether-650M may be used. As both the TOYOPEARL Ether-650 and TSKgel Ether-5PW resins use the same ligand and backbone chemistry, the selectivity between the two resin types will be unchanged.
TOYOPEARL Ether-650S resin has a dynamic binding capacity for lysozyme of 10 to 30 g/L. TOYOPEARL Ether-650S resin maintains capacity at increased linear velocities, has good pressure-flow characteristics, and will withstand back pressures up to 0.3 MPa.
